Paris Olympics: America Wins Silver in Men's 4x100 Medley Relay, Ending 64-Year Streak

The U.S. team of Ryan Murphy, Nic Fink, Caeleb Dressel, and Hunter Armstrong came in second and won silver for the men’s 4x100 medley relay. Ending a 60-year streak of American dominance in swimming.

They couldn’t catch Pan Zhanle from China, who set a world record and pulled ahead of Armstrong and France’s Florent Manaudou in the final 100 meters.

Medley relays were first added to the Olympics in 1960. At that time, a U.S. team won the first men’s event by almost seven seconds, and no other team won it for over 60 years, except for the 1980 Olympics when the U.S. boycotted.

China finished in 3:27.46, the U.S. came in at 3:28.01, and France took bronze with a time of 3:28.38.
