I recently had the chance to attend Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday: Sold Out World Tour, and what a night it was! I managed to snag two tickets just before the show, which was a last-minute scramble.
The concert had a last minute date change announced literally the same day , it was originally set for Saturday. However, due to the Dallas Mavericks hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 of their NBA playoff series on Saturday afternoon, the concert was moved to Friday.
Despite the change in schedule, the concert was a huge success and I checked while the concert was going on the tickets were in fact completely sold out.
Nicki Minaj delivered an incredible performance, filled with high energy, dazzling visuals, and, of course, her signature hits. The crowd was electric, and it was clear that Nicki Minaj is the Queen of Hip Hop!
From start to finish, the show was a celebration of Nicki’s 17 year domination of female rap and the music industry.
The 41-year-old , was scheduled to start her concert at 8:00, but she didn’t take the stage until after 11. When she finally emerged, opening with her song "I’m the Best," she paused the show to demand some hot tea and honey from backstage to help her sore throat.
“I promise you were going to have an amazing show, Dallas,” she assured us after her tea and honey finally arrived. “Let me tell you something, like this is only going to make me go the hardest I’ve ever ... gone before in my life. Watch.” Minaj told the crowd.
Dallas was the 34th stop on Nicki Minaj's 36-show Pink Friday 2 Tour in North America, promoting her December album Pink Friday 2, which is a sequel to her 2010 debut Pink Friday. All of her costume changes were sexy and each outfit was paired with a new wig. The concert featured an elaborate, three-level stage with multiple scenes from “Gag City.”
Nicki Minaj brought out several special guests during her show, including Monica and Yella Beezy.
Nicki Minaj left me completely blown away with her performance. Her stage presence and connection with the audience clearly show why she has set so many records as a female rapper. My favorite moment was definitely when she performed her verse on "Monster." The concert brilliantly showcased her versatility, blending both her classic hits and new tracks.
Before performing her smash hit "Moment for Life," Nicki gave a heartfelt speech that resonated deeply with me and many others in the crowd. She shared a personal reflection, reminding us that at one point she was just an ordinary person, working a job and choosing to be unhappy every day. She emphasized that if she had known her life would change so dramatically, she would have cherished those moments more. Her message was clear: live in the present and don’t dwell on the negative aspects of your life because they are temporary. It was an inspiring and uplifting reminder to appreciate every moment of our life's. I would recommend attending her 2nd Leg of the Pink Friday 2 World Tour this fall.
