Dan Schneider's Response to Allegations in "Quiet On Set"

Updated: Apr 14

Quiet on Set opens with a disclaimer: "I will warn you, if you were a child of the ’90s, this is going to ruin that for you." The docuseries has stirred up trouble for Dan Schneider, a former Nickelodeon producer. The documentary talks about how the sets of his TV shows were filled with unfair treatment, nasty words, and horrible behavior, all led by a Dan Schneider. Schneider is also being accused of Sexual Assault by multiple former child actors including Drake Bell.

Schneider was famous for making popular childrens' shows like "The Amanda Show," "Drake & Josh," "Zoey 101," and "iCarly." He left Nickelodeon in 2018 and mostly stayed out of the spotlight until "Quiet on Set" came out. He told The New York Times that leaving Nickelodeon was a mutual decision, and it gave him a break from his "busy schedule."

Schneider responded to comments from two female writers who worked on one of his shows, saying he didn't control their pay and sometimes his jokes went too far.

He apologized to those who had a bad experience working with him, saying he got stressed and sometimes acted poorly. He denied that his jokes were meant to be rude or inappropriate, but said he'd be okay with them being taken out of his shows if people found them uncomfortable.

Schneider also said he didn't have all the power as a producer and that his shows were watched by many people to make sure they were okay. He denied rumors that he was banned from the sets of his own shows.

He ended by saying he'd do things differently if he could go back, like making sure child actors had access to a therapist. He admitted he wasn't always patient or kind and wished he could change that.
