Is the Taylor Swift/Biden conspiracy theory gaining traction in America?

A recent poll conducted by Monmouth University reveals that just under 1 in 5 Americans believe in a conspiracy theory involving Taylor Swift and an alleged secret government effort to push the 2024 presidential election in favor of President Joe Biden.

The poll, conducted from February 8 to 12, 2024, interviewed 902 adults in the United States and found that 46% of the American public had heard something about Taylor Swift being part of a supposed secret government effort too influence voters in favor of Joe Biden. Of those, 18% actually believe in the conspiracy, with a significant 71% identifying as Republicans and 83% indicating their likely support for Donald Trump in the upcoming 2024 election. Additionally, 73% of those who subscribe to the Biden- Swift conspiracy also believe that the 2020 election outcome was fraudulent.

Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute, noted, "The supposed Taylor Swift PSYOP conspiracy has legs among a decent number of Trump supporters. Even many who hadn’t heard about it before we polled them accept the idea as credible. Welcome to the 2024 election."

President Donald Trump weighed in on Taylor Swift's decision to support President Joe Biden ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, implying disloyalty on her part if she were to endorse Biden in the 2024 election.
