The announcement of Beyoncé's new album came as a surprise, but Verizon hinted at a Beyoncé-related advertisement during the week of Super Bowl LVII.
Beyoncé was featured in a Verizon commercial during the Super Bowl, teasing the release of new music to "break the internet." Shortly after, she fulfilled the promise by releasing two new songs, "Texas Hold 'Em" and "16 Carriages." Beyoncé has been sporting a western look wearing an array of different Cowboy Hats. Beyoncé also made a stylish appearance at the 2024 Grammys wearing a white cowboy hat, hinting at a potential country influence.
Beyoncé officially announced her upcoming album, Act II, scheduled for release on March 29,2024. The reveal came during the Super Bowl LVIII broadcast through a video on her Instagram. Based on the sound of the new songs and Beyoncé's recent Western-themed outfits, it appears that Act II will have a strong Texas country vibe, marking the second act of her Renaissance trilogy. Beyoncé said in her 2021 interview with Harper's BAZAAR “I have paid my dues and followed every rule for decades, so now I can break the rules that need to be broken. My wish for the future is to continue to do everything everyone thinks I can’t do.” —Harper’s Bazaar
The song "Texas Hold 'Em" was co-written by Canadian artist Lowell, with production and instrumental contributions from Rhiannon Giddens, Raphael Saadiq, Hit-Boy, Nathan Ferraro, Killah B, and more. "16 Carriages" features collaborations with Dave Hamelin, Gavin Williams, Justus West, Saadiq, and others. Beyoncé's teaser clip for the album adds to the anticipation surrounding Act II.
