Atlanta, Georgia – YouTuber Tasha K, known legally as Latasha Kebe, has publicly apologized to Latino rapper Cardi B after her appeal against a $4 million defamation lawsuit was unsuccessful.
In 2019, Cardi B initiated a defamation lawsuit against Tasha K, asserting that Kebe had orchestrated a "malicious campaign" against her and had become obsessively fixated. The case concluded in January 2022, with
a federal jury awarding Cardi B $4 million in damages and legal fees.
Kebe subsequently sought to overturn the verdict, claiming that the original decision was influenced by a "lopsided presentation of evidence to the jury." However, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit has now rejected her appeal, leaving the original judgment intact.
The lawsuit highlights the impact of online content and the responsibility of content creators to maintain accurate and respectful discourse. Cardi B's legal team argued that Tasha K's allegations, particularly the claim that Cardi B had herpes, were baseless and severely damaging to the rapper's reputation and career.
Tasha K issued an apology as she now faces the financial consequences of her actions. She stated, "Talk about a check my mouth can't cash."
Cardi B's response to Tasha K's apology "Ima Make Sure Your Kid Don't Go to College." Nevertheless, this case continues to serve as a noteworthy example of the legal boundaries surrounding freedom of speech and the potential repercussions for those who cross them.
More details to come as this story unfolds!
